All three institutions are committed to engineering innovation in building design. He holds charterships in the UK for engineering and for architecture from the Institution of Engineering Designers and the Royal Institute of British Architects. He is the author of the Modern Construction Series of textbooks published by Birkhauser, a set of standard textbooks used in engineering departments at leading universities around the world.
